SAP IBP Manage Realignment Rule: Streamlining Data Transfer in New Product Development

In new product development processes, aligning data from legacy products with new ones is a crucial step. The Manage Realignment Rule function available on the SAP IBP Fiori platform is designed to streamline this process. Manage Realignment Rule:

1. Navigate to the Manage Realignment Rule application in IBP.

2. Select the Create button to create a new project.
   1. Enter the project name, description, and planning area details.

3. Enter the realignment profile name and description.

4. Select the source and target values for the attributes to be mapped.

5. Depending on the process requirements, the following options can be selected:

If the Master Data button is selected, it means the changes will affect all master data combinations.

Adjust Master Data: All combinations of the old product’s master data will be changed to the new product.

Adjust Key Figure Values: If this button is selected, the key figure values of the source material will be transferred to the new material.

Generate Missing Target Planning Objects: If selected, missing data from the Source Value will be created within the Target Value.

Delete Source Planning Objects: Selecting this option means the planning objects (characteristic combinations) related to the old material will be deleted from the IBP system.

6. In the Selection Option section, choose whether to create planning objects for a specific key figure or for all key figures:

• All Key Figures: Transfers all key figure values associated with the old material to the new material.
• Selected Key Figures: Transfers only specific key figure values to the new material.
• Delete Values and Planning Object Record: Select this option under Adjust Source Key Figure Values if you want to delete the values of the Source Value from the system.
• Keep Values: Select this option if you want to retain the Source Value data.
• Sum up Source: Choose this option under Adjust Target Key Figures to transfer all key figure data from the source to the new product. The data transfer is set to 100%, and a broad time horizon is defined.

Finally, click the Apply button to complete and save the process.
