Version Copying (Copying From Base To Planning Area)

In this blog post, we will explain how the version copy process is performed. The purpose of version copying is to copy data from one version to another. This process is useful for creating different scenarios in planning processes or transferring historical data to new planning cycles.

Through version copying, the following benefits are achieved:

  1. Quick Scenario Creation: It becomes easier to create new scenarios based on an existing planning scenario.
  2. Data Consistency: The copying process helps maintain data consistency and reduces manual errors.
  3. Analysis and Comparison: It provides a basis for performing analysis and comparisons between different versions.

Version Copying Steps

The example in this blog will demonstrate copying a version from the Base to the planning area.

1. The first step is to navigate to the ‘Application Job’ section in the IBP system.

2. Then, click on the ‘create’ button located in the box shown in the application.

3. On the opened page, select ‘Copy Version Operator’ as the field.

4. Next, select the planning area on the new page. Choose the area where you want the data to be copied. The period range is selected from the past to the most recent time. In this example, all Key Figures are selected. The Master Data field is left empty as it is included in the flexible area. Once all these steps are completed, click Check and then Schedule. After all these steps, the copying process is initiated.
